Frédéric Chalté
A 2016 graduate in film from UQÀM, Frédéric Chalté has specialized in short-form horror, drawing inspiration as much from folklore as from the contemporary codes of genre cinema. His films, selected and awarded on the international festival circuit, creatively revisit the figures of the monster, the witch, and ritual, combining cultural grounding with a nightmarish atmosphere.
Influenced by European horror cinema from the 1960s to the 1980s, he approaches each project as a sensory exploration of the macabre and the supernatural. Among his notable works are The Babysitter, No One Will Ever Believe You, and Le otto dita della morte.
La Hère, his fifth short film, continues this approach by reimagining a myth from Quebec folklore, affirming his commitment to bringing Quebecois genre cinema to the international stage.
